The Huawei P8 Lite came out last year and was a great success in the midrange category. While it’s a little bit late to come to the party, here are some of the best features of Huawei P8 Lite in case you’re on the verge of getting one yourself. First off, Huawei P8 Lite is a wonderful smartphone for those who don’t want to spend exuberant amounts of money on flagship devices. Secondly, it’s not a slouch in the performance department as well, while it won’t help you post those high scores on benchmark apps, it will certainly get you through the day with ease. I had personally checked out the smartphone last year when I was between flagships, and it performed remarkably well. Although I would like Huawei to step up their camera game in the midrange category, the smartphone was fast enough to make my day-to-day testing a breeze. With its 2 GB of RAM and a capable processor, the smartphone is a great one for budget conscious buyers. So, let’s dive into the 10 best features of the Huawei P8 Lite and find out if it is for you or not.

1. Design

One of the first things you’ll notice about the Huawei P8 Lite is its great design. The smartphone is a remarkable thing coming at only 7.7 MM. The chamfered edges of the smartphone make it easier to hold, and it feels premium in hand despite not costing an arm and a leg. I like the brushed look on the back of the smartphone which makes it look incredibly attractive. The power button is textured differently, so you’ll have no trouble finding it against the smooth volume buttons.

2. Back camera

A lot of midrange smartphones skimp when it comes to the cameras, however, Huawei P8 Lite comes with a 13-megapixel camera that is surprisingly great; especially when you consider the price of the smartphone. Don’t get me wrong; it is not going to challenge the cameras of Huawei Mate 9 or P9 Plus, but it still provides a great experience. I also like how well managed the camera app is; it provides a good amount of control while being simple.

3. Front Camera

I was surprised to find a 5-megapixel front camera featured on Huawei P8 Lite. To be frankly honest, I was more accustomed to Samsung, using 2-megapixel front cameras up to that point. The front camera of Huawei P8 Lite did tend to make me look a bit plastic, but it had great low light performance. When compared to the front camera of Galaxy S7 Edge, you’ll have to strain to find any differences between the front facing cameras on both phones. One must give props to Huawei to include a capable front camera.

4. 4G Connectivity

Many of the recent budget to midrange smartphones are surprisingly not supporting 4G connectivity. I understand that not many people would want certain features, but 4G connectivity is quite essential in this day and age. Thankfully, the Huawei P8 Lite comes with full 4G LTE connectivity. You’ll get blazing fast speeds, no matter where you are and stay connected to your social networks. The smartphone also supports a lot of different bands and has been released tuned to different regions, rest assured, you’ll get full 4G functionality regardless of your country of origin.

5. Dual Sim

This is another important factor in midrange smartphones these days, and it is fully implemented on the Huawei P8 Lite. You can easily install 2 different Sim cards on the smartphone and enjoy simultaneous connectivity on both networks. If you’re a business person or a doctor, you might need to maintain a separate number for your work and another one for your personal needs. This is exactly where a phone like Huawei P8 Lite would come in handy.

6. Octa Core Processor

The Huawei P8 Lite comes with an Octa Core 64 bit processor and is surprisingly fast. The phone didn’t feel like a midrange one during my testing and was capable of running a lot of video games with ease. The processor is in-house named Kirin 620 and is targeted for budget devices by Huawei. While it won’t be able to beat out the juggernauts of the industry, it is still a capable processor that can provide satisfactory performance in day-to-day usage. In short, you want to feel the phone lagging behind other smartphones while browsing the Internet or even switching between multiple apps.

7. Bigger Sound

I’m no fan of rear mounted speaker that fires below the device, but Huawei P8 Lite does a remarkable job of making them sound grand. Doing a direct comparison with Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge, the Huawei P8 Lite always came on top. Thanks to the enlarged integrated sound chamber as well as multiple audio frequency enhancement technologies, the Huawei P8 Lite speakers sound remarkably great. Are flat out better than front facing stereo speakers? No, they are not. But they don’t sound as if they sound off in a tin can.

8. Long-Lasting Battery

While the 2200 mAh battery is not that big when compared to other smartphones, the Huawei P8 Lite manages to last all day long with ease. It is because the 5-inch screen on the smartphone is only 720 P and requires very little power to run. This with the in-house built processor, allows the smartphone to last a full day with relative ease. During my usage, I had around 30 to 40% left after a full day at work. This is remarkable and quite appreciated.

9. Weight

The smartphone only weighs 131 g, which is neither extremely light nor very heavy. The smartphone feels weighty in hand without straining them over a prolonged duration; I believe this is a right mix. The smartphone feels premium as well because of its weight but, does not drag you down with it. If you want to combine it with a good quality case or cover, you can easily do so without adding to the bulk.

10. Android 6.0

The Huawei P8 Lite is one of the few budget range smartphones that received a software update. While many flagships from big companies like Sony or Samsung wait half a year for updates, Huawei updated their budget range smartphone to Android 6.0 with surprising speed. Sure they are using their Android skin over stock Android but receiving the update has implemented significant changes to the speed and usability of the smartphone. While the smartphone is almost 2 years old now, having a relatively latest Android build on it will certainly make it last a while longer.

Conclusion

The Huawei P8 Lite is one of the best budget range smartphones available worldwide these days. Especially if you don’t require a lot of processing power for day-to-day usage, the smartphone will come in handy. Snapping pictures or listening to music on it is a joy and sure you’ll have fun with this smartphone.
