This selfie-crazed era has definitely evolved, and phone manufacturers have dedicated their time in perfecting their front-faced camera. “ചിത്രം”, “படம்”, “चित्र”, or however you call it in India, people understand one thing. When you raise a smartphone, it’s time to take a selfie. But what makes a phone a good selfie phone?

Beautification features. Everyone wants to look good in their pictures. Cameras nowadays have different beautification modes that could remove unwanted scars or blemishes. But unlike photo editing apps, a good selfie phone shouldn’t make you look plastic. It should look subtle.Auto-focus/Selective Focus. Good selfie camera phones come with an auto-focus or selective focus that can let you do a bokeh effect or blur the background.HDR Selfies. Throw away that phone with a VGA front cam because today’s best selfie cams are equipped with about 20MP front cam to have a sharp looking, fine-quality picture.Gestures. A stabilization feature is also needed to take a good quality picture. There are good selfie cameras that activate its shutter when you smile or do hand gestures, so you don’t have to use your hand or expose it on the picture.LED Flash. Taking pictures in a dark place? Buy a selfie camera phone that has a LED flash in front.

We have listed a number of best selfie camera phones in the market which will make the selfie-enthusiasts jump for joy.

Best Selfie Camera Phones

Must Read: Android Phones – Every Android Users Must Know About

1. Xiaomi Mi Note 10

The best feature of this smartphone is it’s camera capabilities. There is a 108MP main sensor – something that is a world premiere, it’s so defining for this phone that this feature is stamped on the back of the phone. Complementing this, there’s one 12MP sensor that has 2 telephoto lens to use in portrait mode. Additionally, we have another telephoto snapper, with 5x zoom and a 5MP sensor. On top of that, they added a 20MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro. Needless to say, the device takes incredible pictures. Everything is better, the richness of the colors, the contrast, and brightness. You can shot in full 108MP if you have the memory for it, but usually, the photos are immediately 4-in-1 pixel-binned in order to make them 27MP. If you decide to stick with the 108MP pictures, the details, and quality of the photo hold up impressively when zooming in. However, not everything is great. As you would expect, when you take a 108MP picture, it takes a while to be processed – from a few seconds to almost a minute, and you won’t be able to use your phone while the picture is processed.

2. Vivo V7+

Vivo V7+ is all about that on-point selfie, with its 24MP sensor. There are also lots of beauty modes and filters to give more oomph to your photos or even video calls. Even though the second sensor was removed, the portrait mode still stands, but you can’t adjust the depth. It has been reported that the skin tones might not be quite accurate, but the amount of details in rest is satisfactory. The camera performs well in most light conditions, even low light. There’s even a “moonlight flash”, that has a kinder light compared to the traditional LED flash. As for the rear camera, there’s a 16MP sensor that works pretty well in all conditions, with good color representation, sharpness, and contrast. However, the contours of objects and finer details might appear a little bit fuzzy when you zoom in. When it comes to video recording, the maximum is 1080p, but there’s no stabilization, so it can get difficult to get quality footage if your hands are shaky.

3. Oppo F5

This is another device that seems to have been dedicated to improving selfies. The Oppo F5 comes with a 20MP camera in the front, with a dedicated LED flash and AI features – perhaps the highlight of this Android smartphone. There’s facial recognition that is able to scan around 200 face points. Landmarks on your face are enhanced, like the symmetry between your eyes, cheekbones, nose or your jawline. Additionally, the focus is always on your face, indifferent to the background. Also, no matter where you are, it will tweak the lighting so you look the best in your selfies. The rear cameras aren’t the focus though. There’s a 16MP on the back of the device, and you would expect it to be less great, but it actually performs pretty well. With natural light, photos are pretty nice, with saturated colors and good quality of details. Of course, as you would expect, it’s a little bit tricky with low light conditions – as there is a bit of noise.

4. Oppo Reno3 Pro

Same as with the Oppo F5, this device’s focus is on the selfie camera (pun intended). The dual punch hole 44MP+2MP front camera gives out pretty good photos. the portrait mode can’t still be improved – but at least you can modify the bokeh level to your liking. Even in low-light, selfies are pretty decent and natural-looking. Beautification is still a major thing, but at least it can be disabled if you want more natural-looking pics. As for the rear cameras, the 64MP+13MP+8MP+2MP quad-camera comes with 20x digital zoom, ultra-clear 108MP images, an ultra-dark mode, ultra-wide-angle, and dual-lens bokeh. The resulting photos are quite satisfying and detailed when it comes to object, but when people are in the play, you’ll experience loss of details and overall performance.

5. Samsung Galaxy S10

On the rear, there’s a triple-lens camera with 12MP+12MP telephoto lens+ 16MP ultra-wide, meaning that you can take great photos at any angle. However, the ultra-wide is not always sharp and you might experience some fisheye effects at the edges of your photos. However, it’s great for group or landscape photos – where you’ll be glad you have this feature. There are also lots of options, like a Live Focus filter, with a Color Point filter – allowing you to transform your background into black and white, while your subject of focus maintains it’s original colors – it’s a great way to go beyond the usual bokeh effect. On the front, there’s a single 10MP camera. It heavily relies on software and AI to tweak photos, like blurring the edges around the hair, for example. There’s a new feature, Shot Suggestions, that helps you level your selfies properly, as well as new 10 categories for the Scene optimizer.
