I never really got into fantasy football myself, but a lot of my friends love to play the game. And why not, if you love a game, you will also obsessively know what is happening in it. Fantasy Football apps for Android are just a logical, fun and are simply the next step in loving the game more. I’ll be honest with you here; I don’t play any of the games or actively follow the football scene. Thankfully, I have a lot of friends and peers who were keen in giving me their expert advice on the matter and even recommend their favorite apps. Note: The 5 best fantasy football apps for Android were tested on a Samsung Galaxy Note III smartphone. The apps worked fine, and no problems were found during testing. Almost all the apps will require an active internet connection to work properly.

1. ESPN Fantasy Football

This app, without a doubt, is one of the best ones around. Every Fantasy Football lover I asked liked this game at one point or another. The app allows you to create leagues and teams and take them to the top. There are different draft modes that can really hone your team into something beautiful. Half of fantasy football is knowing how the real world game is doing. ESPN Fantasy Football knows that and delivers news, right on your phone. You will be able to get alerts and notifications about scores, trades and injuries. I really liked how the app allowed me to sign in with my Facebook account and instantly find friends who were already enjoying the game. Free Version

2. Yahoo! Fantasy Sports

I don’t know why this app is called Fantasy Sports when clearly it meant to say Android Fantasy Football. But hey, who cares about the name anyways. The app provides you laser fast news, stats and drafts right on your notification tray. Participating in mock drafts, learning about the changes from experts and topping season long games is what the app excels at. A major part of Football is smack talking and boy the message boards are filled with it. It’s a great Fantasy Football game to have on your smartphone, not because it is updated regularly but because it has a great looking interface. Free Version

3. Fantasy Football

If you need news and information from multiple sources and just as they come out, Fantasy Football app for Android is the right way to go. The app allows you to check statistics and insights for every player and not just whole teams. The app combines information obtained from around dozen reliable sources and presents in a highly understandable manner. The app also allows you to follow individual players, ideal the ones you care about and have quick access to them all the time. You can also create player profiles that will synch videos, information, Tweets, bios and much more, all at one place. If you are playing to win, this is the app you should have on your Android at all times. Free Version

4. NFL Fantasy Football

This app right here used to be the king but recent updates have made a lot of users uncomfortable. Aside from technical issues, the app is just not what it used to be. A few of my friends have completely abandoned the app and moved on to greener pastures. This is surprising because the app comes straight from NFL themselves and not just a third party alternative. Features like live draft, creating and joining leagues and video highlights are still keeping the app in limelight. Live scoring and setting up your lineup is super easy and convenient with this fantasy football app. Free Version

5. NFLRUSH Fantasy Football

Let’s be straight here, only download this app if you have tried all the others and they didn’t work for you. There is a very small chance that this newcomer will sit well with you. Developed by the same guys who made the above app, it comes with the same annoying problems. If it works, it works well but most of the times the experience will be doomed by bugs and crashes. Create and join leagues, play the game and check the results, all the usual bells and whistles are included in this app. Free Version

Conclusion:

Playing Fantasy Football is not about actual playing, it’s all about absorbing the game as much as you can. This is why I don’t call Fantasy Football apps, games. This is serious business and requires some hefty passion and time from your end. If you are already invested in the fast and exciting football, this is the natural evolution.
