An emulator lets you play all your favorite games on Android devices, bringing back memories from your childhood glory days.

Why Not Just Play on the N64 Console?

There are three reasons using an emulator is the most plausible action for people who want to play Nintendo 64 games.

You don’t have to spend money on the N64 console. You can carry the phone or tablet around with you for trips and whenever else you play video games. You can just download ROMs instead of paying money for a bunch of games.

1. Mupen64+AE FREE (N64 Emulator) – Free and $0.99

1.a Free Version

This is my favorite N64 emulator for Android because it runs smoother than any of the other options. Since the N64 is so popular you can find some viable options, besides this, but I tend to think this is still the best one. The app is free, and the developer is actually quite responsive to any questions or requests you might want to submit. Features:

Minimal lag The vibrate function is used to simulate the Nintendo 64 Rumble Pak Browse for ROMs within the app

Notable Feature: You can store the ROMs in any directory you want on your phone.

1.b Paid Version

The Paid version of the Mupen64+AE FREE (N64 Emulator) is strictly for donations. You don’t get anything in return, but it’s a nice way to thank the developer who put together one of the best N64 emulators for Android.

2. MegaN64 (N64 Emulator) – Free

This is a nice N64 emulator for Android, because it’s fast and you can find just about any game for the N64 on this app. It’s a modification of the Open Source Mupen64+, which we outlined before. So you can expect similar performance and even some improvements for particular devices. Features:

Has enhancements for the Nexus 4 Has enhancements for the Galaxy S4 This works perfectly on both phones and tablets

Notable Feature: Place your games on the SD card within seconds to start playing.

5. M64 emulator – Free

The last Nintendo 64 emulator is M64 emulator, which isn’t my favorite, but it has put together a nice following. It’s compatible with various formats and you can also punch in cheats, which is nice in my opinion. Features:

Put ROMS anywhere on your phone Punch in whatever cheats you can find online Works with Xperia Play controls

Notable Feature: You can save and load where you are in the game.

Conclusion

That’s just about it for N64 emulators for Android. Have fun playing around with Wario and Mario in Super Smash, or start swinging your sword around with Zelda.
